I always notice mascara more when the rest of my makeup is simple. On days when I do not want to spend too much time getting ready, I still want my lashes to look defined, lifted and a little more awake.

That is why I like trying different formulas side by side. Even when mascaras seem similar at first, the finish, brush feel and how cleanly they wear can make a real difference for me.

1. Swipe Beauty Passion Mascara

I was curious about Swipe Beauty Passion Mascara because I tend to like sleek silver packaging, and I usually end up reaching for mascaras that promise an easy everyday look rather than something overly dramatic. My first impression was that it felt like the kind of product I would throw into my makeup bag and use without overthinking it.

What I liked here was the overall balanced feel. For me, it looked like a mascara that could work well when I want definition without making my lashes feel too heavy. In the quick hand test, the black marks did not look completely untouched, but they still gave me the impression of a formula I would want to try on a normal day when I want my lashes to look neat and softly lifted.

2. L’Oréal Panorama

L’Oréal Panorama immediately stood out to me because the gold tube makes it feel a bit more statement-making. I usually expect this kind of mascara to give a bolder look, so I would probably reach for it when I want my eye makeup to feel more noticeable even if I am wearing very little elsewhere.

What I like about it is the stronger visual presence. Even before using it, it gives me the feeling of a fuller lash look rather than a barely-there finish. In the hand test, the smudging looked a little more visible to me than with some of the others, so I would still keep in mind that wear can depend on application, natural oils around the eyes and the kind of day I am having.

3. MARS Mascara

The silver MARS Mascara felt very straightforward, which I actually appreciate. I do not always need mascara to feel luxurious or overly styled. Sometimes I just want something that seems simple, practical and easy to work into an everyday routine.

For me, this one gave off that no-fuss energy. I could imagine using it on days when I want a quick coat before leaving the house. In the comparison, the formula looked fairly similar after rubbing, so it gave me the impression of a mascara that might hold up reasonably well while still keeping the overall look soft.

4. MARS Mascara in the black-and-rose-gold tube

This version caught my attention because the packaging feels a little more playful and polished. I usually like mascaras that look a bit more fun on my makeup table, and this one definitely has that effect.

I found this one especially interesting because the hand test looked darker and more intense from the start. That made me think it could suit days when I want my lashes to stand out more. At the same time, I would still treat that as a first impression rather than a final verdict, because mascara always behaves a little differently once it is actually on the lashes.

After looking at all four, I realised again that my favourite mascara is not always the one with the boldest packaging or the strongest first impression. I usually end up liking the products that make my routine feel easy and reliable. For me, mascara works best when it adds definition without becoming something I need to worry about all day.
