Gentle Active Skin Routine

Beauty Hacks
I have become much more selective with active skincare because I no longer want a routine that leaves my skin feeling tight or overwhelmed.
Right now, I am drawn to formulas that combine targeted ingredients with soothing, hydrating textures, and these products fit perfectly into that approach.

Retinol Without The Drama
When I want to introduce retinol into my evening routine without making it feel too intense, Dr. Althea 0.1% Gentle Retinol Serum immediately makes sense to me. The watery texture looks light and easy to layer, while the formula also includes panthenol and birch juice, which makes the whole concept feel much more balanced.
K-Secret Seoul 1988 Serum takes a slightly different approach with retinal liposome, black ginseng and a noticeably richer-looking formula. I would personally treat these two as alternatives rather than use them together in the same routine. On nights when I use a retinoid, I prefer keeping the rest of my skincare simple and focusing on moisture.
Retinoids are also products I like to introduce gradually rather than rush. A few evenings a week can be enough at first, especially if the rest of the routine is built around soothing and barrier-friendly products.

The Hydration Step Matters
This is where the second pair becomes especially useful. Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream Mist is exactly the type of product I would reach for when my skin needs an extra layer of comfortable hydration. A mist format also makes it easy to add moisture without making the routine feel heavy.
Perfect Balance Rice AdelY Ferment Milky Essence Toner looks like a beautiful option for the same reason. With niacinamide, PDRN and beta-glucan listed on the bottle, it combines hydration with ingredients that make the formula feel more skincare-focused than a basic toner. I would use it after cleansing and before serum, giving my skin a softer, more cushioned base before moving on to stronger actives.

How I Would Combine Them
For me, the key is not using everything at once. I would start with the milky toner, follow with one retinoid serum, and finish with a comforting moisturizer. The cream mist can be added whenever my skin feels as though it needs more hydration.
And because retinoids are part of the routine, sunscreen is non-negotiable for me the following morning.
I love this newer direction in skincare: active ingredients are still important, but the routine does not have to feel aggressive to feel purposeful. For me, the best approach is always the one that balances visible goals with keeping the skin comfortable.
