I love discovering perfumes that have their own personality, and these two offer contrasting interpretations of luxury, warmth and sophistication.
Casamorati Dolce Amalfi
There is something wonderfully uplifting about Casamorati Dolce Amalfi by Xerjoff. Inspired by Italy's Amalfi Coast, this fragrance combines fruity sweetness with warm spices and a beautifully rounded ligneous base. The opening brings together juicy quince, crisp apple, saffron and cardamom, creating an unusual balance of freshness and warmth. As it develops, cloves and incense add character before the softer notes of vanilla, tonka bean, amber and musk emerge. What attracts me to this composition is the way it moves between bright, playful fruitiness and comforting warmth without feeling like a conventional summer perfume. I would reach for it on sunny afternoons, during a Mediterranean holiday or whenever I wanted something cheerful with a sophisticated twist. The vibrant orange bottle, ornate detailing and sculptural cap perfectly reflect its distinctive personality.
Kajal Lamar
If Dolce Amalfi captures the carefree atmosphere of a summer escape, Kajal Lamar feels more glamorous and mysterious. Its composition opens with pineapple, red berries, apple, cardamom and coriander, creating a rich fruity introduction with a subtle spicy edge. Bulgarian and Turkish roses mingle with jasmine and magnolia at the heart, bringing an elegant floral dimension, while vanilla, amber, musk, cashmere wood and cedar give the fragrance a warm, enveloping finish. I find this combination particularly appealing for evenings, when I want something expressive without relying entirely on heavy oriental notes. The golden bottle, intricate decorative label and striking geometric cap add to its luxurious character. I would choose Lamar for an elegant dinner, a special occasion or a cooler evening when a richer floral fragrance feels appropriate.
Although both perfumes combine fruity notes with warmth and sweetness, their personalities are noticeably different. Dolce Amalfi offers a playful mixture of juicy fruit, spices and vanilla that suits relaxed daytime occasions, while Lamar introduces a richer floral heart and an elegant ligneous base that I associate with evening wear. Both have enough character to make choosing a fragrance feel like part of getting dressed rather than simply the final step in my routine.
