I genuinely believe some of the best lip products are hiding in the drugstore aisles. Lip liners especially have become one of my favorite makeup products because they completely change the way lipstick looks and lasts. The best part? You absolutely do not need to spend luxury makeup prices to get amazing quality.

Over the years, I’ve tried high-end lip liners that honestly did not impress me nearly as much as these affordable ones. These formulas are creamy, pigmented, comfortable, and long-lasting — basically everything I want in a lip liner. Even better, every single one is under ten dollars.

1. Essence 8H Matte Comfort Lip Liner ($3.99)

Even though I normally avoid matte lip products, these lip liners completely surprised me. The formula feels lightweight and comfortable instead of dry, which instantly made me like them more. These liners remind me a lot of the L.A. Girl ones because the staying power is honestly impressive for such an affordable product. Once applied, they last beautifully while still feeling creamy during application.

One thing I especially appreciate is that these are retractable, so there’s no sharpening involved.

2. L.A. Girl Ultimate Lip Intense Wear Auto Lipliner ($5.49)

These are hands-down my favorite lip liners of all time. Not just favorite drugstore lip liners — favorite overall. I seriously cannot stop recommending them. The formula is incredibly creamy when applying, so it glides across the lips without tugging or skipping. But once it sets, it stays put for hours without smudging everywhere. I’m always shocked at how long-lasting these are while still feeling comfortable on the lips.

3. NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner Velvet Soft Vegan Lip Pencil ($5)

If you’ve never tried NYX lip liners before, you are seriously missing out. One of the biggest reasons I love this line is the shade range. There are so many colors available that it’s incredibly easy to find shades that match both affordable and high-end lipsticks. These pencils feel smooth and pigmented while still giving more precision during application. Since they are traditional pencil liners, they are slightly firmer than the L.A. Girl liners, but I actually like that because it makes shaping the lips easier.

4. Milani Color Statement Lipliner ($5.99)

It’s probably not surprising that Milani made this list because I already love so many of their lip products. They consistently create affordable makeup that feels way more expensive than it actually is. These lip liners are extremely creamy and glide onto the lips so effortlessly. The pigmentation is amazing too, so you get rich color immediately without needing to layer product over and over. I also love how easy these are to blend slightly before they set.

Finding makeup products that are affordable and genuinely high quality always feels exciting, and these lip liners have become permanent staples in my collection.
