Useful Tips
Lykkers, have we ever imagined that a small tree planted by our hands could become a beautiful part of our future? A tree is not only a green decoration in our garden.
It can create a peaceful outdoor space, provide shade on sunny days, and grow alongside us through many years. Today, we will explore how we can plant a tree correctly and give it the best beginning.
Planting a tree is not simply about digging a hole and placing a young plant inside. A healthy tree needs the right season, suitable soil, enough space for roots, and careful attention. When we follow the correct steps, we can help a young tree settle down and develop strong growth.
Choosing the Right Planting Season
The first step is choosing a comfortable time for planting. Early spring and autumn are usually the best choices because the temperature is mild and the soil often keeps enough moisture.
During very warm seasons, a new tree may face more challenges because its roots are still adjusting. By selecting the right planting period, we give the tree more time to build a strong root system before facing seasonal changes.
Selecting a Suitable Tree Variety
Before planting, we should think carefully about the type of tree we want to grow. Different trees have different needs for sunlight, soil, and water.
A tree that matches the local environment often grows more easily and requires less extra care. If we choose a special variety, we should learn about its growing conditions first and make sure the surroundings can support its development.
Preparing the Planting Hole
A proper planting hole gives roots enough room to expand. We should dig a space several times wider than the root area of the tree. A wider hole allows the roots to move into loose soil and grow without pressure.
When preparing the hole, we can leave a small mound of soil in the center. This helps the roots stay in a natural position and prevents too much water from gathering around them.
After digging, we can loosen the nearby soil with a garden tool. Softer soil makes it easier for new roots to spread and connect with the surrounding ground.

Moving the Tree Carefully
When removing a small tree from a container, we should handle it gently and protect the roots. For larger trees with protective wrapping, we can carefully remove the outer materials while keeping the soil around the roots as stable as possible.
Roots are delicate, so we should avoid leaving them exposed to sunlight and dry air for too long. Preparing everything before moving the tree helps reduce unnecessary stress.
Placing the Tree Correctly
The position of the tree inside the hole is very important. The area where the trunk connects with the roots should remain close to the same height as the surrounding ground.
If the tree is placed too deep, the roots may have difficulty staying healthy. If it is too high, some roots may not receive enough protection. After checking the height, we can slowly fill the hole with soil and gently settle it.
Improving the Soil Around Roots
Good soil helps a tree grow better. If the ground is not rich enough, we can mix some organic material with the existing soil.
Organic materials can improve soil structure and support helpful natural activity underground. For fruit trees, adding extra natural nutrients can provide more support during the early growing period.
Watering After Planting
After the tree is placed and the soil is filled, we should water it slowly and deeply. This helps the soil settle and reduces empty spaces around the roots.
During the first year, regular watering is important. The amount depends on the weather and local conditions, but the soil should stay moist without becoming filled with extra water.
Before watering again, we can check the soil with our hands. If it still feels wet, we can wait a little longer.
Protecting the Tree Area
Adding a layer of leaves or small pieces of wood around the tree can help keep moisture and reduce unwanted plant growth. This protective layer should not touch the trunk directly because the tree needs enough air around its base.
A simple covering also helps protect the planting area and reminds people to avoid stepping too close to the young tree.
Supporting Healthy Growth
During the first year, some young trees may need gentle support. A support system can help protect the tree from strong winds and allow it to grow safely.
The support should not be tied too tightly because the trunk needs room to develop naturally. After the roots become stronger, we can remove the support and let the tree stand on its own.

Growing With Nature
Planting a tree is the beginning of a long relationship with nature. With patience and care, a small tree can slowly become a strong and beautiful part of our surroundings.
Lykkers, have we ever planted something and watched it change over time? Every large tree begins with a simple action. When we plant and care for a tree, we create a greener space and a meaningful memory that can continue growing with us for many years.
