Good Day, Lykkers! Choosing the right hair oil before styling can honestly change how your final look turns out. Some oils are better for shine, some focus on softness, and others actually help protect and repair while you style.
When I’m planning a blowout, I always think about what my hair needs most that day. Between nourishment, fragrance, and heat protection, each option brings something different to the table.

1. K18 Molecular Repair Hair Oil
This one feels like the most “serious care” option in the lineup. Instead of just sitting on the surface, it’s designed to help repair hair while also giving heat protection, which makes it really useful before styling. I like that it doesn’t feel heavy, yet still gives a smooth, controlled finish once the hair is styled. The bonus is that it also helps with split ends over time, so it’s not just about instant shine.

2. Kérastase Elixir Ultime
This one is pure luxury in a bottle. The scent alone already makes the styling routine feel more elevated, almost like stepping out of a salon. It gives a really glossy finish without making the hair look oily or weighed down. I also like how soft my hair feels after using it, especially when I’m going for a polished, sleek result. If I want my hair to look extra shiny and feel soft to the touch, this is the one I naturally reach for.

3. Dae Prickly Pear Hair Oil
This oil wins in the fragrance department, no question. The scent lingers beautifully and honestly makes my hair smell fresh for days. However, compared to the other two, I don’t feel the hydration is as strong as I expected. It still smooths frizz and adds a bit of shine, but it leans more toward cosmetic finish than deep treatment. I enjoy it most when I want my hair to smell amazing, even if it’s not my most intensive care option.

If I had to choose one for styling, I’d lean toward the K18 oil. It feels like the most balanced option between care, protection, and performance. Kérastase comes close when I want something more luxurious and glossy, while Dae is more of a “good smell + light finish” kind of product. In the end, it really depends on what matters more that day—repair, shine, or scent.
